The Superior was in charge of all the economic matters of the reductions, together with a group of assistants, and he also administered the synod corresponding to the priests. All economic transactions and carefully recorded, and had to be approved by the Provincial installed in Cordoba. La reducción de Candelaria fue un pueblo como cualquiera de los 30 poblados guaraní-jesuíticos, con las mismas actividades económicas y los mismos problemas a resolver. Pero, al ser sede de la autoridad religiosa -allí se encontraba el Superior desde 1633- concentraba en ella la administración/distribución económica de los demás pueblos. El Superior se encargaba de todas las cuestiones económicas de las reducciones, junto a un grupo de ayudantes, y también administraba el sínodo correspondiente a los sacerdotes. Todas las transacciones económicas-compra, venta, vinculaciones con los Colegios y Oficios- eran controladas desde Candelaria y registradas cuidadosamente, y debían ser aprobadas por el Provincial instalado en Córdoba.
