During his stay in this town, he verified the economic situation, made a brief history of the town, based on oral testimonies of its people, and carried out a population census. Those data were forwarded in a report to the Audiencia de Charcas, in those papers he described relevant information about Magdalena, six years later of the expulsion of the Jesuits. En febrero de 1773 el gobernador de Moxos, León González de Velasco, visitó la reducción de Santa María Magdalena en el distrito de Baures. Durante su estadía en dicha población, verificó su situación económica, hizo una breve historia del pueblo, basada en testimonios orales de sus habitantes y realizó un censo poblacional. Aquellos datos fueron remitidos en un informe a la Audiencia de Charcas, en los que se describe información relevante sobre Magdalena seis años después de la expulsión de los jesuitas.
