The work reviews the reworking of the idea of hieroglyphs by Athanasius Kircher and other members of the order, based on Neoplatonic and Renaissance tradition, as well as the consideration of the sign lan-guages of China and America and their interest intransmitting religious contents taking advantage of non-European experiences and avoiding the distance of words.
