Thus, we identify the changes in the politics of Jesuit writing in the last decades before the expulsion of the Society of Jesus from Hispanic territories (1767-1768) and the first years after that fact, i.e., probably the most critical period for Jesuits during the Early Modern Times. José Cardiel (1704-1782) escribió, entre 1747 y 1780, distintos libros sobre las misiones jesuíticas de la Provincia del Paraguay. Todos ellos constituyen reescrituras de un mismo texto de base. Por esa razón, podemos utilizarlos para analizar las modificaciones, supresiones y adiciones —es decir, las correcciones y reescrituras— entre los mismos. De esa manera, identificamos los cambios en la política de escritura jesuítica en las últimas décadas antes de la expulsión de la Compañía de Jesús de los territorios de la Corona española (1767-1768) y en las primeras después de tal hecho, esto es, en el período probablemente más crítico para los jesuitas durante la Edad Moderna.
