Their rights were recognized and the State began to contribute to their financing, but regulations were also issued aimed at their democratization and transparency, seeking to restore the relationship with a citizenry that is quite distrustful of them. With the debate on whether or not to suspend the open, simultaneous and mandatory primary elections (PASO) at the national level, this article seeks to review the stability of the electoral rules at the subnational level that have accompanied the process of reestablishment and consolidation of democracy. In order to carry out such analysis we will take the cases of the Double Simultaneous Vote and the open primaries system, since both electoral systems also determined the way in which political parties had to select their candidates to run for office. Durante las cuatro décadas siguientes desde el regreso de la democracia en Argentina, se buscó institucionalizar y dotar a los partidos políticos de la jerarquía que merecen como organizaciones fundamentales del régimen democrático. Se reconocieron sus derechos y el Estado pasó a contribuir a su financiamiento, pero también se dictaron normas orientadas a su democratización y transparencia, buscando recomponer la relación con una ciudadanía que desconfía bastante de ellos. A partir de la reedición del debate si suspender o no las elecciones primarias abiertas, simultáneas y obligatorias (PASO) a nivel nacional, el presente artículo busca hacer un repaso por la estabilidad de las reglas electorales a nivel subnacional que han acompañado el proceso de reestablecimiento y consolidación de la democracia. Para realizar dicho análisis tomaremos los casos del Doble Voto Simultáneo (Ley de Lemas) y el sistema de primarias abiertas, dado que ambos sistemas electorales también determinaron la forma en la que los partidos políticos debían seleccionar a sus candidatos para competir por cargos electivos.
