The former allow us, through their trajectory, to reflect on how the Cordovan priests developed from the processes of separation between Church and State in the 1880s and 1890s and how the Rerum Novarum affected the bond of the Church with society. We will stop, then, at the effects that the "social question" had on ecclesiastical action, taking Cabrera's trajectory as a case of analysis. Monseñor Pablo Cabrera fue un sacerdote-historiador nacido a mediados de Siglo XIX que tuvo una activa participación tanto en espacios eclesiásticos/parroquiales como en círculos académicos, especialmente universitarios. Los primeros nos permiten, a través de su trayectoria, reflexionar sobre cómo se desenvolvieron los sacerdotes cordobeses a partir de los procesos de separación entre Iglesia y Estado en las décadas de 1880 y 1890 y de qué manera la Rerum Novarum afectó el vínculo de la Iglesia con la sociedad. Nos detendremos, entonces, en los efectos que tuvo la “cuestión social” en el accionar eclesiástico, tomando como caso de análisis la trayectoria de Cabrera.
