Focusing on the case of the University of Buenos Aires, the work establishes a periodization and analyses the students' mobilization repertoires, the scope of the demonstrations and the role of the different student groups. Likewise, the text examines the incidence of student protest in the maintenance of the gratuity and autonomy of Argentine public University, as well as its influence on the social conflict during the 90s against the so-called neoliberal policies and its possible impact on the growth of the opposition to menemism. Este artículo reconstruye un proceso significativo y poco investigado de la historia del movimiento estudiantil argentino como es el conflicto estudiantil ocurrido en 1995, año en que se sucedieron tomas de universidades y masivas concentraciones contra la promulgación de la Ley de Educación Superior por parte del gobierno de Carlos Menem. Focalizando en el caso de la Universidad de Buenos Aires, el trabajo establece una periodización en la que se analizan los repertorios de movilización de los estudiantes, el alcance de las manifestaciones y el papel de las diferentes agrupaciones estudiantiles. Asimismo, se indaga la incidencia de la protesta estudiantil en el sostenimiento de la gratuidad y la autonomía de la Universidad pública argentina,así como su influencia sobre el conflicto social durante los años ’90 frente a las llamadas políticas neoliberales y su posible impacto en el crecimiento de la oposición al menemismo.
