It is based on the assumption thatthe complexity of current issues puts disciplinary categories in crisis, making new epistemicsearches necessary. Public spaces represent a concept whose density allows us toapproach this discussion, where we are particularly interested in problematizing its senseof category-place from its disciplinary consensuses and conflicts. The work develops amultimodal methodology of methods: historical-critical, bibliographical analysis andempirical references. Este trabajo presenta una discusión teórica sobre lo público como categoría,espacio y lugar a partir de un enfoque transdisciplinar y exploratorio. Se parte del supuestoque la complejidad de las problemáticas actuales pone en crisis las categorías disciplinareshaciendo necesaria nuevas búsquedas epistémicas. Los espacios públicos representan unconcepto cuya densidad nos permite abordar esta discusión, donde interesaparticularmente problematizar su sentido de categoría-lugar a partir de sus consensos yconflictos disciplinares.
