Perhaps, what is fragmented is not history -always reconstructible from one or another selectively organized knowledge, skilled in describing processes-, but our own language, the very possibility of narrating a collective time and space from words that have preserved the ability to support, like the spine, a body battered on all sides. Perhaps this absent unity does not exist, perhaps we should abandon the idea that these fragments are pieces of a puzzle whose edges must be able to assemble one with the other, in the patient task of bringing out the total image that gives them meaning. In any case, we are ready to think about some of these fragments of irregular edges, in some cases worn out from trying so hard to assemble them, sometimes by force. But stubbornness is also a sign of persistence, not very different from that which, in these times of crisis, leads us to write, to say something, no matter how much we doubt the forms and contents. Moving forward in this way will allow us not to fall into the temptation of chronology, also arranged in the figure of the anniversary to which the forty years of Argentine democracy summons us, to be able to play with other temporalities (because every word has them), which will allow us to face with some resource the fragile relationship between memory and the future

Quizás, lo que se encuentra fragmentado no es la historia –siempre reconstruible desde uno u otro saber selectivamente organizado, avezado en describir procesos–, sino nuestra propia lengua, la posibilidad misma de narrar un tiempo y un espacio colectivo a partir de palabras que hayan conservado la capacidad de sostener, como la columna vertebral, un cuerpo golpeado por todos sus costados. Quizás esa unidad ausente no exista, quizás debamos abandonar la idea de que estos fragmentos son piezas de un rompecabezas cuyos bordes tienen que poder ensamblarse unos con otros, en la paciente tarea que va haciendo despuntar la imagen total que les da sentido. En todo caso, nos disponemos a pensar en algunos de esos fragmentos de bordes irregulares, en algunos casos gastados de tanto quererlos ensamblar, a veces a la fuerza. Pero el empecinamiento también es signo de una persistencia, no muy diferente a la que, en estos tiempos de crisis, nos lleva a escribir, a decir algo, por más que dudemos de las formas y los contenidos. Avanzar así nos permitirá no caer en la tentación de la cronología, dispuesta también en la figura del aniversario al que nos convoca los cuarenta años de democracia argentina, para poder hacer jugar otras temporalidades (porque cada palabra las tiene), que nos posibiliten enfrentar con algún recurso la frágil relación entre la memoria y el porvenir Facultad de Filosofía y Humanidades.
