| Sumario: | We describe here the resuJts of a survey carried out lo determine the nature, extent and distribution of the dental service provided by-the Board of the tJniversity Personnel Social ,Assistance (Dirección de Asistencia Social del Personal Universitario [DASPU] From 1988 lo 1990. Such survey was perfonned on the bases of a representati ve sample of assistancc recipients.The grealest dental service dcmand vas registered among the group of persons of 25-44 years-olcl (40.3% of the total), although the rendercd services per person/years increased with the member's ages. Restorative Dental and Prothesis registered the highest ocurrence (50.201Í> of thc total). Preventive Odontology practices were infrequent (1.2%) while Odontopediatric was the less demanded (0.3%). 3 1.8% of the assistance was providecl by DASPU own services, Prothcsis being the most predominant kind. As for exten]al effectors (62.3%), the most ficquent werc thosc of Dental Operating. It isconcluded that 11w demandcd dental services werc niainly curative and reparative. The reorgartizatioil of the Odontology Service may increase the system performance efficiency and e ffect i veness. |
