Such survey was perfonned on the bases of a representati ve sample of assistancc recipients.The grealest dental service dcmand vas registered among the group of persons of 25-44 years-olcl (40.3% of the total), although the rendercd services per person/years increased with the member's ages. Restorative Dental and Prothesis registered the highest ocurrence (50.201Í> of thc total). Preventive Odontology practices were infrequent (1.2%) while Odontopediatric was the less demanded (0.3%). 3 1.8% of the assistance was providecl by DASPU own services, Prothcsis being the most predominant kind. As for exten]al effectors (62.3%), the most ficquent werc thosc of Dental Operating. It isconcluded that 11w demandcd dental services werc niainly curative and reparative. The reorgartizatioil of the Odontology Service may increase the system performance efficiency and e ffect i veness. Se describen los resultados de una investigación dirigida a estimar la naturale/a, magnitud y distribución de las prestaciones odontológicas realizadas por la Dirección de Asistencia Social del Personal Universitario (DASPU) en el período 1988-1990. a partir de una muestra representativa de la población de beneficiarios. El mayor consumo de servicios odontológicos se registró en el grupo de 25-44 años (40.3% del total). aunque las prestaciones por persona/año aumentaron conforme a la edad de los afiliados. La ocurrencia mas alta de prestaciones se observó en Operatoria Dental y Prótesis (50.2% del total).Las prácticas en Odontología Preventiva fueron de muy baja frecuencia (1.2%) y las menos soli- citadas correspondieron a Odontopediatría (0,3°/o). Un 31.8% de las prestaciones se realizaron en los servicios propios de la DASPIJ, predominando las del rubro Prótesis. En efectores externos (62.8%), las más frecuentes fueron las de Operatoria Dental.Se concluye que las prestacione odontológicas demandadas fueron principalmente curativas y reparadoras.
