Sumario:Long COVID is a multi-organ pathology with important sequelae that affect the health and welfare of survivors from the cellular bioenergetics, in this case, the importance of considering the acid-base balance within the processes of evaluation and treatment of long COVID by health and sports professionals was addressed, given that different investigations have found important modifications in mitochondrial function that result in ventilation failures, causing alterations in the compensation-decompensation of respiratory and renal pH control (metabolic-respiratory acidosis and alkalosis).
