description Abnormalities and anatomical varieties of the urinary system have an incidence between 0.2% and 0.4%. National studies that provide regional epidemiological information about these varieties are minimal. From the Fetal Anatomy Area of the Chair of Normal Anatomy, FCM-UNC, we studied the urinary system and its anatomical varieties/anomalies in a sample from Córdoba with the aim of determining their incidence. The analysis were performed in fetal cadaveric material (weight <500 grams), provided by the Misericordia Hospital, Córdoba. 50 fetuses, aged 15 to 22 weeks, 24 male and 26 female, were dissected. Microdissection instruments, binocular magnifiers, Nikon D3300 camera with Nikkor 105 mm lens were used. Details of normal anatomy and identification of abnormalities and varieties of the urinary system were recorded. The following results were obtained: 1 male case of bilateral megaureter (2%); 1 case, male, horseshoe kidney associated with bladder balloon (2%) accompanied by double renal hilum and 3 renal arteries; and 1 female case of double right renal artery (2%). The incidence obtained from the megaureter, and horseshoe kidney is higher than that described in the international literature; therefore, the study will continue to increase the sample to make it representative. This study contributes to the formation of a database from Córdoba, Argentina, of the incidence, morphological characteristics and photographic documentation of the anomalies and varieties of the urinary system. Knowledge of these optimizes the accuracy of diagnoses and prevents accidents during interventions.

Knowledge of these optimizes the accuracy of diagnoses and prevents accidents during interventions.
