description Currently, children grow up in an obesogenic environment, which offers multiple barriers to the consumption of healthy foods and to the practice of physical activity, favouring weight gain. The marketing, availability and advertising of food and beverages in school kiosks, encourage overconsumption, contributing to the development of overweight and obesity. The objective was to analyse food consumption in the school canteen, physical activity and nutritional status of 5th and 6th grade boys and girls who attend School No. 172 in Cutral Co in 2019 and the first quarter 2020. The study was descriptive, observational, correlational and cross-sectional. The sample was made up of 34 school children of both sexes. Anthropometric assessment: weight, height and BMI, according to WHO 2007 graphs, questionnaire on consumption of food for sale and physical activity according to WHO 2010 global recommendations. Study variables: sex, age, nutritional status, food for sale and physical activity. The data collection technique was a survey, using a questionnaire. 29% of the sample was overweight and 3% obese. 79% consumed foods not recommended in the school canteen (according to the table of recommended foods for kiosks and products/foods/drinks not recommended for healthy school environments), being sweet cakes, juices, ice creams, chocolates, snacks, the most consumed foods. 88% of the schoolchildren carried out extracurricular physical activity. 79% presented insufficient physical activity. In children with normal nutritional status, overweight or obese, the consumption of non-recommended foods and insufficient physical activity prevailed. This highlights the importance of carrying out Nutritional Food Education in school settings to promote healthy habits. The participation of social actors, such as managers, teachers, kiosk managers, parents and students, is essential to guarantee a healthy school environment. As well as the participation of these social actors to guarantee a healthy school environment. In addition, it is relevant that the institutions generate spaces and strategies for the practice of physical activity. In this research, the pertinent ethical safeguards were taken into account, based on the Helsinki statements and National Law 25.326, which establish autonomy, beneficence and non-maleficence and justice as an ethical principle.
