On these, bibliographic quotations from periodic and non periodic publications, as well as quotations froru doctorate thesis anci congrcss acts were analyzed. In addition the antiquity of these was analyzed considering a period of five years between the date of accomplishment of the thesis and the une of the used hihliographical dluotation. Results: The total of analyzed quotations vas of 492, presentirlg an average of 123 quotations pee thesis. 62 pee cent of Ihe quotations corresponded tu non periodic publications, 37 pee cent to periodic publications and 2 per cent to quotations from doctorate thesis and congress acts. In regard of the antiquity of the dluotations. 42 per cent was snialler to 5 years and. 58 per cent was greater than that perioci of time. Conclusion: Wc concluded the doctorate thesis represent the highest degree of scientific and acadeniic expression, and constitute a rich and valuable source of data. The analysis of these theses is very important because it provides information about the trends and innovations on the on the arcas of Medical Education, Etliics and History. It would be (very) useful to extend the bibliomctric analysis towards other theniatic areas, generaling a refcrence for future rcscarch.

Objetivos: El objetivo del presente trabajo fue describir las tendencias del uso de la información por parte de los tesistas en Odontología y sus temas de investigación en Educación Médica, Ética e Historia. Material y Métodos: De un total de 290 tesis doctorales (le la Facultad de Odontología realizadas durante el período 1965-2002, se identificaron: 3 tesis sobre Educación Médica y 1 sobre Ética. En las mismas se analizaron las citas bibliográficas de publicaciones periódicas, no periódicas y citas de tesis de doctorado y actas de congresos. Además se analizó la antigüedad de las inisnias considerando un período de cinco años entre la fecha de realización de la tesis y la de la cita bibliográfica utilizada. Resultados: El total de citas analizadas fue de 492, con un promedio de 123 citas por tesis. El 62% correspondió a publicaciones no periódicas. 37 a publicaciones periódicas y 2% a citas de tesis de doctorado y actas de congresos. En cuanto a la antigüedad de las citas 42% eran menores a 5 años y 58% mayores a ese período de tiempo. Conclusión: Concluimos que las tesis de doctorado representan el más alto grado de expresión científica y académica, y constituyen una fuente rica y valiosa de datos. El estudio de estas tesis es muy importante porque nos brinda información sobre las tendencias e innovaciones sobre las áreas de Educación Médica, Ética e Historia. Sería de mucha utilidad extender el análisis bibliométrico hacia otras áreas temáticas, generando una referencia para futuras investigaciones Universidad Nacional Córdoba.
