| description |
Patellar tendinopathy is a frequent and disabling condition caused by overload and typical of young athletes sports with a high demand on the knee extensors. Clinically, it is characterized by load-related pain localized to the inferior pole of the patellar that causes dysfunction. Diagnosis of patellar tendinopathy is based on the medical history. The VISA-P (Victorian Institute of Sport Assessment) questionnaire, validated and translated into Spanish, both measures the severity of symptoms and monitors outcomes. Imaging ultrasound can help confirm diagnosis but, in spite of the benefits of imaging to allow detect structural changes of the tendon, it does not confirm the diagnosis.
The objectives was to evaluate the relationship between the score obtained via VISA-P questionnaire, two provocative loading tests and ultrasound confirmation in patients with chronic patellar tendinopathy with more than 3 months of evolution.
A retrospective observational study was performed with a non-random sample of 32 voluntary subjects (1 woman and 31 men), aged between 18 and 50, diagnosis of chronic patellar tendinopathy (> 3 months) during the years 2018 and 2019.
Relationship between Visa-P score and provocative loading test (knee extension) obtained a Correlation coefficient = -0.415 and an estimate of the slope coefficient of the load test is -2.83, which is statistically significant (P: value = 0.018), that is to say: per unit of increase in VAS (knee extension) there is a reduction of 2.83 points in the Visa-P assessment. For the relationship between Visa-P and Tolerance Test (SDS), an inverse correlation with Visa-P of -0.461 was obtained with a slope estimate of -4.84 load test, which is statistically significant (P: value = 0.0079 ), which implies that for each unit of increase in EVA (SDS) the valuation in Visa-P is reduced by 4.84 points.
The combination of the VISA-P questionnaire and provocative loading test showed good correlation, so it could be recommended as screening tests in the diagnosis of chronic patellar tendinopathy |

The combination of the VISA-P questionnaire and provocative loading test showed good correlation, so it could be recommended as screening tests in the diagnosis of chronic patellar tendinopathy La tendinopatía rotuliana es una patología frecuente que se produce por sobrecarga, principalmente en deportistas jóvenes sometidos a alta demanda de fuerza y potencia del mecanismo extensor de rodilla.
