Having understood the connection between the creators and recipients of the film, this article seeks to elucidate whether such a foundation can be extended to fantasy cinema. In particular, we explore the ethical function of the forest in audiovisual narrative, since in the fantasy genre forests play a crucial role. Our goal is to understand its meaning and its importance in these stories. The corpus is established by works written and directed by one of the most prominent directors of the genre in the Basque Country: Errementari (2017) and Irati (2022) by Paul Urkijo Alijo. Through textual analysis, we can describe how a certain organization of indicators leads the spectator to concrete meanings; in this case, the author clearly highlights the importance of forests, offering different perspectives in each of the films. The forest takes on a culminating meaning in human development. El artefacto fílmico está íntimamente interiorizado por las preocupaciones, tendencias y aspiraciones de la época. Comprendido el vínculo entre creadores y receptores del filme, este artículo pretende dilucidar si ese fundamento es extensible al cine de fantasía. En concreto, exploramos la función ética del bosque en la narrativa audiovisual, ya que en el género de fantasía los bosques desempeñan un papel crucial. Nuestro objetivo es comprender su significado y su importancia en estas historias. El corpus lo establecen las obras escritas y dirigidas por uno de los directores más destacados del género en el País Vasco: Errementari (2017) e Irati (2022), de Paul Urkijo Alijo. Mediante el análisis textual podemos describir cómo una determinada organización de los indicadores conduce al espectador a significados concretos; en este caso, el autor destaca de manera clara la importancia de los bosques, ofreciendo perspectivas diversas en cada una de las obras. La floresta adquiere la máxima significación en el desarrollo del ser humano.
