Abstract: Nursing professionals continually face the reality of other people's death, but often try to avoid the issue, ignoring it. In this regard, psychiatrist K. Eissler said: "What is difficult, to die or to witness death? To some this question may seem cynical or hypocritical however, it has its justification when maintaining intimate contact with the dying. " Accepting the death of the patient contradicts the essential objective of health professionals, which is to preserve health and life. But the nurse is the only professional that accompanies the patient and the family at that moment; "The function of the nurse is to assist the individual, sick or healthy, in the execution of those activities that contribute to their health or to their recovery or to avoid suffering at the time of death." In the following work it will be about the "care of the invisible", trying to interpret the subjective perspective, in this case, the experience of the nurses, the feelings and attitudes towards death and palliative care of the patient, and generate elements that allow a sociocultural explanation on the death of patients in intensive care units from a qualitative approach, relating it to the factors that condition them and the possibility of providing palliative care to it. |

Los profesionales de enfermería enfrentan continuamente la realidad de la muerte de otras personas, pero a menudo intentan evitar el tema, ignorándolo. A este respecto dijo el psiquiatra K. Eissler: “¿qué es lo difícil, morir o presenciar la muerte? A algunos esta pregunta puede parecer cínica, sin embargo, tiene su justificación cuando se mantiene un contacto íntimo con los moribundos”. Aceptar la muerte del paciente contradice el objetivo esencial de los profesionales sanitarios, que es conservar la salud y la vida. Pero la enfermera es el profesional que acompaña al paciente y la familia en ese momento; “la función de la enfermera consiste en atender al individuo, enfermo o sano, en la ejecución de aquellas actividades que contribuyen a su salud o a su restablecimiento o a evitarle padecimientos en la hora de su muerte”. En el siguiente trabajo se tratará del “cuidado de lo invisible”, intentando de interpretar la perspectiva subjetiva, en este caso, la vivencia de las enfermeras, los sentimientos y actitudes ante la muerte y los cuidados paliativos del paciente, y generar elementos que permitan una explicación sociocultural sobre la muerte de los pacientes en las unidades de terapia intensiva desde un enfoque cualitativo, relacionándolo con lofactores que los condicionan y la posibilidad de brindar cuidados paliativos al mismo. Resumo: Os profissionais de enfermagem enfrentam continuamente a realidade da morte de outras pessoas, mas muitas vezes tentam evitar o problema, ignorando-o. A esse respeito, o psiquiatra K. Eissler disse: "O que é difícil, morrer ou testemunhar a morte? Para alguns, essa pergunta pode parecer cínica ou hipócrita, no entanto, ela tem sua justificativa ao manter contato íntimo com os moribundos". o paciente contradiz o objetivo essencial dos profissionais de saúde, que é preservar a saúde e a vida. Mas o enfermeiro é o único profissional que acompanha o paciente e a família naquele momento; "A função do enfermeiro é auxiliar o indivíduo, doente ou saudável, na execução das atividades que contribuem para sua saúde ou recuperação, ou para evitar o sofrimento na hora da morte." No trabalho a seguir, abordaremos o "cuidado do invisível", buscando interpretar a perspectiva subjetiva, neste caso, a experiência dos enfermeiros, os sentimentos e atitudes em relação à morte e os cuidados paliativos do paciente, e gerar elementos que permitem uma explicação sociocultural sobre a morte de pacientes em unidades de terapia intensiva a partir de uma abordagem qualitativa, relacionando-a aos fatores que os condicionam e à possibilidade de prestar cuidados paliativos.
