The methodological design used was quantitative, descriptive, prospective, crosssectional and observational. Out of the total of 150 professionals who met the inclusion, exclusion and elimination criteria, 54 nurses were selected, and by a systematic probabilistic sampling, the data collection was carried out during the months of August and September of 2017, through a survey . The variables of varices frequency, age, sex, type of varicose veins, length of service, and standing time were analyzed. Results: 70% (95% CI from 58.11% to 82.48%) presented VARICES. It was observed that the sex with the highest frequency of appearance was the female with 87%. The age of the nursing staff who presented varicose veins was, on average, 45.61 years. Regarding the type of varices, 25 nurses presented varicose veins of Grade I, 10 of Grade II and 3 of Grade III. About the variable Antiquity in the  Service, an average of 13 years was identified. About Standing Time, nurses who stand for 7 hours represent 47%. Conclusions: The female sex, the age and the time of prolonged standing, are personal and labor characteristics present frequently in the sample analyzed. Se realizó el estudio, para determinar las características del personal de enfermería que presenta Várices en los servicios Emergencia, Terapia Intensiva y Clínica Médica de los hospitales “José Francisco de San Martin” y “Juan Pablo II”. El diseño metodológico utilizadofue de tipo cuantitativo, descriptivo, transversal y observacional. Del total de 150 profesionales que reunieron los criterios de inclusión, exclusión y eliminación, se selecionó a 54 enfermeros;por un muestreo probabilistico sistemático, la recolección de los datos se realizó durante los meses de agosto y septiembre del 2017, a travez de una encuesta. Se analizaron las variables frecuencia de aparcición de Várices, edad, sexo, tipo de varices, antigüedad en el servicio, tiempo de bipedestacion. Resultados: el 70% (IC al 95% de 58,11% a 82,48%) presentó Várices. Se observó que el sexo con mayor frecuencia de aparción fue el femeninocon 87%. La edad del personal de enfermería que presentóVárices fue, en promedio, 45,61 años. En cuanto al tipo de Várices, 25 enfermeros presentaron Várices del Grado I, 10 del Grado II y 3 de Grado III. Sobre a la variable Antigüedad en el Servicio, se identificó un promedio de 13 años. Acerca al Tiempo de Bipedestación, los enfermeros que permanecen 7 horas de pie representan el 47%. Conclusiones: El sexo femenino, la edad y el tiempo de bipedestación prolongado, son características personales y laborales presentes con frecuencia en la muestra analizada.
