This extreme form of presentation of some tumors of peritoneal, digestive or gynecological origin, that are spread by transcelómica, had therapies only palliative. Currently some patients with peritoneal cancer dissemination can benefit from a treatment that combines cytoreduction surgery and intraperitoneal chemotherapy to provide a therapeutic alternative that can improve the survival time and quality of life of these individuals. This work tries to show the development and purposes of a challenging surgery in regards to our role as instrumentators, the cytorreduccion. It consists in the resection of all macroscopic disease, which is visible to the human eye without the aid of a microscope, and then the elimination of microscopic disease by the intraperitoneal use of chemotherapeutic drugs at high temperature. At present the Allende Sanatorio is the only health center in the province of Cordoba and one of the few in the country, which has a program of these characteristics. Hasta no hace mucho tiempo el cáncer en la superficie peritoneal estaba asociado con un pésimo pronóstico. Esta forma extrema de presentación de algunos tumores de origen peritoneal, digestivo o ginecológico, que se diseminan por vía transcelómica, tenía terapias solamente paliativas. En la actualidad algunos pacientes con diseminación peritoneal del cáncer pueden beneficiarse de un tratamiento que asocia cirugía de citorreducción y quimioterapia intraperitoneal para brindar una alternativa terapéutica que puede mejorar el tiempo de supervivencia y la calidad de vida de esas personas. En este trabajo intento mostrar el desarrollo y propósitos de una cirugía desafiante en lo que respecta a nuestro rol como instrumentadores, la citorreducción. La misma consiste en la resección de toda enfermedad macroscópica, la que es visible al ojo humano sin ayuda de microscopio, y luego la eliminación de la enfermedad microscópica mediante la utilización intraperitoneal de fármacos quimioterápicos a alta temperatura. En la actualidad el Sanatorio Allende es el único centro de salud de la provincia de Córdoba y unos de los pocos en el país, que tiene un Programa de estas características. Sanatorio Allende.
