Sumario:Summary: Background: Service learning has been demonstrated as a suitable methodology in education. Nursing education should support ethics, values and stimulate social responsibility within the curriculum .Aim: To evaluate a Service learning experience in clinical practice in nursing undergraduate students, contributing social responsibility in education and health organisations. Method: A pilot study was carried out using quantitative and qualitative measures. Students worked in groups under the supervision of nursing instructors. The goal of the experience was to develop a service learning project which may respond to the needs of patients, relatives and communities inside of paediatric centres. Conclusion: Students learned strategies such as problem-solving, making-decision process, leadership abilities, improving management process and care delivery. The experience strengthens both critical and reflective thinking. This methodology could play a remarkable role in nursing education.
