Nursing education should support ethics, values and stimulate social responsibility within the curriculum .Aim: To evaluate a Service learning experience in clinical practice in nursing undergraduate students, contributing social responsibility in education and health organisations. Method: A pilot study was carried out using quantitative and qualitative measures. Students worked in groups under the supervision of nursing instructors. The goal of the experience was to develop a service learning project which may respond to the needs of patients, relatives and communities inside of paediatric centres. Conclusion: Students learned strategies such as problem-solving, making-decision process, leadership abilities, improving management process and care delivery. The experience strengthens both critical and reflective thinking. This methodology could play a remarkable role in nursing education. Introducción: El aprendizaje en servicio ha demostrado ser una metodología importante en la formación de enfermeras para apoyar la enseñanza de la ética, los valores y estimular la responsabilidad social. Objetivo: Evaluar una experiencia de aprendizaje de servicio en la práctica clínica en estudiantes de pregrado de enfermería que contribuya con responsabilidad social a organizaciones de educación y de salud. Método: Se realizó un estudio piloto en estudiantes de tercer año de la carrera de enfermería de una universidad privada de Santiago de Chile. Se utilizando medidas cuantitativas y cualitativas. Los estudiantes trabajaron en grupos bajo la supervisión de instructores de enfermería. El objetivo de la experiencia fue desarrollar un proyecto de aprendizaje de servicios que pueda responder a las necesidades de los pacientes, familiares y comunidades dentro de los centros pediátricos. Conclusión: Los estudiantes aprendieron estrategias como la resolución de problemas, el proceso de toma de decisiones, habilidades de liderazgo, la mejora del proceso de gestión y la prestación de atención. La experiencia fortalece tanto el pensamiento crítico como el reflexivo. Esta metodología es útil para reforzar las habilidades sociales en enfermería. Sanatorio Allende.
