| Sumario: | In this paper, I present the results and interpretation of the excavations in Enclosure 2 of the Pajchela Núcleo site, located in Cusi Cusi (Puna de Jujuy, Argentina). The excavation of this structure revealed a complex context, with the discovery of over ten thousand camelid bones along with a large quantity of rocks of various sizes and, below them, the burnt roof of the structure. It has been interpreted as a closure event involving a fire and the disposal of remains from a communal meal. The Pajchela Núcleo site is characterized by the presence of a large, stepped platform mound with chambers, chullparian structures, and spaces for agricultural production, and it has been interpreted as a place of memory. The discovery of this closure event marked by communal dining reinforces this interpretation and allows us to view Pajchela Núcleo as a space for gathering and meeting. |
