description We present the characteristics of the archaeological contexts from the Villavil ravine (Andalgalá department, Catamarca) that were registered, documented, excavated and analyzed during archaeological impact studies related, on the one hand, to a change in the layout of the Minera Alumbrera Ltd. pipeline and, on the other, to the annual archaeological monitoring carried out within the framework of its environmental policy. The characteristics of the reported funerary contexts, their radiometric dates and the bioarchaeological, isotopic and technological analyzes of the associated material contribute to the construction of the cultural past of the societies of the first millennium and to delineate changes and continuities in practices in the sphere of life and death with respect to the late period and the Inca societies. The results refer to the occupation of the ravine since the first century of the era, with direct burial practices for adults and urn burial for infants. Individuals of reproductive age have balanced diets, good general health, and intense use of the body for daily activities.

Presentamos los contextos arqueológicos registrados, documentados, excavados y analizados que provienen de la quebrada de Villavil (departamento Andalgalá, Catamarca), los que fueran intervenidos en el marco de los estudios de impacto arqueológico realizados en ese espacio y relacionados, por un lado, con un cambio de trazado del mineroducto de la empresa Minera Alumbrera Ltd. y por otro con los monitoreos arqueológicos anuales que se realizan en el marco de su política ambiental. Las características de los contextos funerarios informados, sus fechados radiométricos y los análisis bioarqueológicos, isotópicos y tecnológicos del material asociado aportan a la construcción del pasado cultural de este sector del espacio y a delinear los cambios y continuidades en las prácticas en los ámbitos de la vida y de la muerte de las sociedades del primer milenio con respecto a la tardía e inca. Los resultados remiten a la ocupación de la quebrada desde el primer siglo de la era, con prácticas de entierros directos para adultos y en urna para infantes en función de los contextos. Los individuos en edad reproductiva presentan dietas balanceadas, un buen estado de salud general y un uso intenso del cuerpo para actividades cotidianas. Apresentamos os contextos arqueológicos registrados, documentados, escavados e analisados a partir do barranco de Villavil (departamento de Andalgalá, Catamarca), que foram escavados como parte dos estudos de impacto arqueológico realizados nesta área e relacionados, por um lado, a uma mudança na rota do gasoduto Minera Alumbrera Ltd. e, por outro, ao monitoramento arqueológico anual realizado como parte de sua política ambiental. As características dos contextos funerários relatados, sua datação radiométrica e a análise bioarqueológica, isotópica e tecnológica do material associado contribuem para a construção do passado cultural desta área e para delinear as mudanças e continuidades nas práticas de vida e morte das sociedades do primeiro milênio no que diz respeito às sociedades atrasadas e incas. Os resultados apontam para a ocupação do barranco do primeiro século d.C., com práticas de enterro direto para adultos e enterros de urna para bebês, dependendo dos contextos. Os indivíduos em idade reprodutiva têm dietas equilibradas, um bom estado geral de saúde e um uso intenso do corpo para as atividades diárias. Centro de Estudios Históricos.
