Five profiles were analyzed, of which four were excavated in agricultural terraces and a witness profile excavated in a non anthropized area. The results showed that the phytolithic assemblages present in the anthropized profiles are characterized by the presence of elements related to the maideas in the levels of human occupation that would account for the management strategies used by human groups in this area in the past and that the environment during the Formative was from very humid to humid, which is consistent with what is known for most of this period in the valley (ca. 100-800 AD). Therefore, it could be established that the occupation of the Formative Period in this area of the Calchaquies took place in a relatively humid environmental framework, as in the rest of the Santa María Valley. En este trabajo se presentan los resultados del análisis de microfósiles biosilíceos recuperados de perfiles localizados en terrazas de cultivo de la localidad de Molle Yaco (valle de Santa María, Tucumán, Argentina), pertenecientes al período Formativo (ca. 100-1000 DC). Se analizaron cinco perfiles, de los cuales cuatro fueron excavados en terrazas agrícolas y un perfil testigo excavado en una zona no antropizada. Los resultados mostraron que las asociaciones fitolíticas presentes en los perfiles antropizados se caracterizan por la presencia de elementos afines a las maideas en los niveles de ocupación humana que darían cuenta de las estrategias de manejo empleadas por los grupos humanos de esta zona en el pasado y que el ambiente durante el Formativo fue de muy húmedo a húmedo, lo cual es coherente con lo que se conoce para la mayor parte de dicho período en el valle (ca. 100- 800 DC). Por lo tanto se pudo establecer que la ocupación del Período Formativo en este sector de Cumbres Calchaquíes se produjo en un marco ambiental relativamente húmedo, como en el resto del valle de Santa María.
