It also employs current conceptual discussions about tensions and conflicts in relation to heritage and local identity. The archaeological site "Tambería del Inca" located in the city of Chilecito, province of La Rioja, raises several questions about the process of its social construction as an identity local reference. It also offers the opportunity to study the attributions of value that it has received throughout the twentieth century to the present (by both national and provincial authorities, by the experts and mainly by Chilecito community). The scope and limitations of this site’s legal framework are problematized, considering the context in which it was developed and implemented as part of provincial policies. El presente trabajo aborda las discusiones en torno a las disonancias existentes entre los distintos significados atribuidos al patrimonio por los actores que participan en su valoración. Asimismo, se ahonda en las discusiones conceptuales actuales sobre las tensiones y conflictos que suceden en relación al patrimonio y su vinculación con la identidad local. El sitio arqueológico “Tambería del Inca”, ubicado en la ciudad de Chilecito, provincia de La Rioja, plantea varios interrogantes acerca del proceso de su construcción social como referente identitario. Asimismo, brinda oportunidades para abordar las diversas atribuciones de valor que ha recibido a lo largo del siglo XX hasta la actualidad tanto desde las autoridades nacionales y provinciales, como del saber experto y principalmente de la comunidad de Chilecito. Se problematizan los alcances y limitaciones del marco legal del sitio, reflexionando sobre el contexto en el cual fueron elaborados e implementados como parte de políticas provinciales de puesta en valor.
