The alteration traces recorded include cracking, abrasion, rounding and accretions, among others. Sherds size was also recorded to evaluate the degree of fragmentation. The results suggest that the ceramic material was mainly subjected to the effects of free-standing water and livestock trampling. Furthermore, the co-occurrence of some technological attributes, sherd size and alteration traces was explored. Finally, is stated the need for further analysis of the different and complex interactions between pottery intrinsic properties and extrinsic factors (environment and burial conditions) that affect the material preservation, towards a better interpretation and comparison of archaeological settings. En este trabajo se presenta el estudio de atributos tecnológicos y alteraciones posdepositacionales del material cerámico subsuperficial del sitio Laguna de los Gansos 1 con el objetivo de identificar los agentes y procesos tafonómicos que incidieron en su preservación. Se tuvieron en cuenta las características ambientales del contexto de recuperación como la vegetación, la sedimentología y la geomorfología, así como los efectos de procesos antrópicos modernos como el pisoteo del ganado. Las huellas de alteración relevadas incluyen agrietamiento, abrasión, redondeamiento, adherencias, entre otras. También se registró el tamaño de los tiestos para evaluar el grado de fragmentación. La información resultante sugiere que los principales procesos de alteración que afectaron al material fueron la acción fluvial de baja energía y el pisoteo del ganado. Además, se exploró la simultaneidad de ocurrencia entre algunos atributos tecnológicos, tamaño de los tiestos y huellas de alteración. Finalmente, se plantea la necesidad de profundizar en el análisis de las distintas y complejas interacciones entre las propiedades intrínsecas de la cerámica y los agentes extrínsecos (ambiente y contexto de enterramiento) que condicionan la preservación del material y cuyo conocimiento favorecerá la interpretación y comparación de los conjuntos arqueológicos.
