The excavations were developed following the principles of archaeological stratigraphy proposed by E. C. Harris. The reconstruction of the stratigraphic matrix allowed us to recognize a great variety of actions and practices carried out in the rocky outpost, in addition to painting the walls. Among them stand out the realization of fires in different sectors of the cave. This article describes the most important features of stratigraphy. We present the recovered and dated materials that locate some of the activities of this cave in the second half of the first millennium AD, although we have elements to suggest that occupations had been developed before and after those dates. En este artículo se presentan los resultados de las excavaciones estratigráficas del piso de una de las cuevas más importantes con arte rupestre del sitio arqueológico de Oyola, emplazado en la sierra de El Alto-Ancasti, Catamarca. Las excavaciones fueron desarrolladas siguiendo los principios de estratigrafía arqueológica propuestos por E. C. Harris. La reconstrucción de la matriz estratigráfica nos permitió reconocer una gran variedad de acciones y prácticas realizadas en el alero rocoso, además de pintar las paredes. Entre ellas resaltan la realización de fogones en distintos sectores de la cueva. En este artículo se describen los rasgos más importantes de la estratigrafía, se presentan los materiales recuperados y los fechados obtenidos que ubican algunas de las actividades de esta cueva en la segunda  mitad del primer milenio d.C., aunque tenemos elementos para sostener que se habrían desarrollado ocupaciones anteriores y posteriores a esas fechas.
