The starting point will be the renewed return to Freud, which comes from the text The Direction of The Cure and The Principles of its Power (Lacan, 1958 [2008]). We are going to take into consideration the political context, Lacan’s interlocution and the answers he elaborates around the primacy of the symbolic matter: key to the reading of that moment of his teaching. From this perspective, the purpose of the significant of desire as a vital clinical operator that shakes the phallic aspiration is highlighted. It also opens an innovative horizon of end of analysis.  Este artículo se propone una revalorización del tema del deseo, a partir del retorno renovado a Freud, que se desprende del texto La dirección de la cura y los principios de su poder (Lacan, 1958 [2008]). Tomaremos en consideración el contexto político, la interlocución de Lacan y las respuestas que va elaborando alrededor de la primacía de lo simbólico, clave de lectura en ese momento de su enseñanza. Desde esta perspectiva se destaca la función del significante del deseo como un operador clínico vital que sacude la aspiración fálica y abre un horizonte novedoso de fin de análisis.
