The novelty of the digitalization of images is presented, whose consequence is the inscription into a real register, thus introducing a novel relation between the imaginary and the real. With digital images, the symbolic statute is reduced to the real. Based on Gérard Wajcman’s work The Absolute Eye, a question is raised about what the author calls “the wall of images,” referring to the ambition of science to see it all, to the omnipotence of the gaze as a universal eye. El presente trabajo interroga el estatuto de las imágenes y la relación que los sujetos tienen a ellas, a partir de considerar que estamos invadidos por imágenes que consumimos y producimos. Se plantea que lo novedoso es la digitalización de la imagen, que tiene como consecuencia la inscripción en un registro real, introduciendo de este modo una relación novedosa entre lo imaginario y lo real. Con la imagen digital el estatuto simbólico se reduce al real. A partir de lo trabajado por Gérard Wajcman en El ojo absoluto se cuestiona acerca de lo que el autor denomina el muro de las imágenes, refiriéndose a la ambición de la ciencia por verlo todo, a la omnipotencia de la mirada en tanto ojo universal.
