In this crossroads, the effects of the market on public and private institutions are highlighted, as well as the transformations that spaces go through, generating highly segregated population sectors. The transformations of the urban fabric and their consequences on social groups are also pointed out. In this sense, readers will be able to grasp the shift from a way of understanding the city in an extensive space to the idea of an overlap of layers where the different strata live together. Múltiples voces se reúnen en este compilado de textos que cruza la arquitectura, el urbanismo, el psicoanálisis y la economía alrededor de The Wire, serie estadounidense ambientada en Baltimore. En este cruce se resaltan los efectos del mercado en las instituciones públicas y privadas, así como las transformaciones que van sufriendo los espacios generando sectores de población ampliamente segregados. También se señalan las trasformaciones del tejido urbano y sus consecuencias en los grupos sociales, en este sentido se podrá captar como se ha pasado de un modo de entender la ciudad en un espacio extenso a la idea de una superposición de capas donde conviven los diferentes estratos.
