Sumario:This study, which consisted of a national and international systematic review of the literature, aimed to identify how the words gender/sex are presented in journals associated with physics and natural sciences. Through the words physics and science, journals classified as A1 and A2 available on the Sucupira platform of the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES), were chosen and subjected to a reading to observe the existence or absence of the approach of the word gender and sex. The methodology, of a qualitative and quantitative nature, aimed to identify the incidence of the words gender and sex in the articles, to understand if the word gender was used as a synonym for sex, to verify the existence of debates dedicated to conceptualizing gender/sex, to identify discussions about stereotypes of gender and note the visibility or invisibility of women as protagonists in physical/science history. The results indicated that there are few studies that deepen the concept of gender and sex in articles related to physics and natural sciences. The research suggests the need for further studies in the area.
