Through the words physics and science, journals classified as A1 and A2 available on the Sucupira platform of the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES), were chosen and subjected to a reading to observe the existence or absence of the approach of the word gender and sex. The methodology, of a qualitative and quantitative nature, aimed to identify the incidence of the words gender and sex in the articles, to understand if the word gender was used as a synonym for sex, to verify the existence of debates dedicated to conceptualizing gender/sex, to identify discussions about stereotypes of gender and note the visibility or invisibility of women as protagonists in physical/science history. The results indicated that there are few studies that deepen the concept of gender and sex in articles related to physics and natural sciences. The research suggests the need for further studies in the area. O presente estudo, que se consistiu em uma revisão sistemática nacional e internacional da literatura, objetivou identificar de que forma as palavras gênero/sexo são apresentadas nos periódicos associados à física e ciências naturais. Por meio das palavras física e ciências, os periódicos classificados como A1 e A2 disponibilizados na plataforma Sucupira da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES), foram escolhidos e submetidos a uma leitura com a finalidade de observar a existência ou ausência da abordagem das palavras gênero e sexo. A metodología, de natureza qualitativa e quantitativa, visou identificar a incidência das palavras gênero/sexo nos artigos, perceber se a palavra gênero era empregada como sinônimo de sexo, verificar a existência de debates dedicados em conceitualizar gênero/sexo, identificar discussões sobre estereótipos de gênero e notar a visibilidade ou invisibilidade das mulheres enquanto protagonistas na história da física e ciências. Os resultados indicaram que poucos são os estudos que aprofundam o conceito de gênero e sexo nos artigos relativos às ciências físicas e naturais. A pesquisa sugere a necessidade de realização de mais estudos na área.
