These books are frequently used in the basic cycle of the scientific-technological careers in Argentina. The content analysis technique was used to investigate if the texts expose the advantages of energy treatment, the epistemological status of the concepts involved, the issues related to the revolution that brought about the integration of mechanics and thermodynamics under the unifying concept of energy, the historical aspects and finally, the relationships between science, technology and society. We detected that, in most of the analysed texts, these aspects are superficially approached, which could influence the image that readers could form about science. Se muestran resultados del análisis del tratamiento dispensado a aspectos transversales acerca de la energía en una muestra intencional de diez libros de texto universitarios de Física, empleados frecuentemente en el ciclo básico de carreras científico-tecnológicas quese desarrollan en Argentina. Se empleó la técnica análisis de contenido para investigar si en los textos se exhiben las ventajas del tratamiento energético, se hace alusión al estatus epistemológico de los conceptos involucrados, se mencionan cuestiones vinculadas a la revolución que supuso la integración de la mecánica y la termodinámica bajo el concepto unificador de la energía, se contemplan aspectos históricos y finalmente si se contemplan las relaciones entre ciencia, tecnología y sociedad.
