Definition of electric current as ordered movement of electric charges: pragmatic-cognitive analysis

In this essay, applying Sperber and Wilson’s (1986, 1995) relevance theory descriptive-explanatory architecture, we analyze the pertinenceof the definition of electric current as an “ordered movement of electric charges” presented in Torres, Ferraro, Soares e Penteado(2016) textbook Física: Ciência...

We claim the definiens of the definition, restricting theunderstanding of the phenomenon to its effect, suggests an interpretation of electric current as fluid flow. This definition is contradictoryto the concept of electric current as an emerging phenomenon of the ordered drift movement of the carriers of free internalelectric charges caused by an electric field generated by the distribution of superficial electric charges in a closed circuit submitted toan electromotive force source.
