We use themethodology of teaching by the investigation to observe the development of some skills, such as: hypothesis survey, data analysis andconclusions based on scientific data. An investigative teaching sequence (SEI) was elaborated, with the theme of human survival feasibilityoutside the Earth, to be applied during the science classes of the 8th year classes of the EMEF Prof.ª Lúcia Pereira Rodriguesschool. The results show that investigative teaching enables the use of previous knowledge in problem solving, as well as favors thedevelopment of skills such as greater autonomy in conducting the activity, openness to creativity, contact with scientific research, relations between scientific knowledge and society, between others.
