It is an exploratory case study and for its development, a questionnaire was developed applied to the graduates of the course of the last five years. The collection of these responses took place digitally, with the completion of an electronic form, the data were treated using content analysis. Based on the analysis of the responses, it was possible to establish that the challenges are diverse, covering different aspects, and that they affect all undergraduates, even if in different proportions. The role of the university in the understanding of the students' difficulties and in the elaboration of projects that aim to alleviate these issues, and that consequently have more motivated students who will represent a greater number of professionals in the area of Physics Education, so deficient in the current context. Este trabalho discorre sobre as dificuldades enfrentadas pelos egressos do curso de Licenciatura em Física, da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina durante seu percurso formativo e o conhecimento das estratégias utilizadas pelos acadêmicos e pela instituição para o enfrentamento de tais desafios, relacionadas a permanência e conclusão do curso. Trata-se de um estudo de caso exploratório e para o seu desenvolvimento elaborou-se um questionário, que foi aplicado aos egressos do curso dos últimos cinco anos. A coleta destasrespostas deu-se de forma digital, com o preenchimento de um formulário eletrônico, os dados foram tratados utilizando-se da análise de conteúdo. Com base na análise das respostas foi possível estabelecer que os desafios são diversos, perpassando diferentes aspectos, e que atingem todos os graduandos, mesmo que em proporções distintas. Salienta-se o papel da universidade na compreensão das dificuldades dos alunos e na elaboração de projetos que visem amenizar estas questões, e que possuam por consequência alunos mais motivados que irão representar uma maior quantidade de profissionais na área de Ensino de Física, tão deficitária no contexto atual.
