Although electromagnetism is a particularly abstract topic to study, there are a few cases related to its teach-ing within the proposed methodology in the literature. The present paper addresses Ampère’s Law through collaborative project learning within the subject Physics II in undergraduate engineering courses at Universidad Tecnológica Nacional (Argentina). It details the necessary skills required for the proposal, as well as the assessment criteria. Students were asked to work on a pro-ject consists of the building of a mechanism that shows the working of an industrial machine, based on Ampère`s Law. They were evaluated using rubrics and, in turn, teachers’ and students’ opinion was requested through a questionnaire and a survey respectively. The findings were encouraging and showed teachers’ and students’ interest in this practice; all groups of learners managed to pass the work and achieved the proposed competencies. Some improvements will be made next year by teachers themselves applying this method. This study expresses new voices and presents an alternative perspective on educational de-signs. However, it is necessary to go deeper into this educational approach with the aim of improving the science educational method. Implementar la educación por competencias en carreras de Ingeniería requiere diseñar, poner en práctica y evaluar propuestas didácticas específicas. A pesar de que el electromagnetismo es un tema particularmente abstracto para su estudio, existen pocos casos en la bibliografía consultada donde se relaten experiencias para su enseñanza según la educación por competencias. En este trabajo se propone abordar el tema Ley de Ampère, dentro de Electromagnetismo, a través de actividades de trabajo colaborativo basadas en competencias en la asignatura Física II para carreras de Ingeniería en la Universidad Tecnológica Nacio-nal (Argentina). Se detallan las competencias que se abordaron tanto desde lo científico tecnológico, como desde lo social; así como el criterio de evaluación. Se propuso a los estudiantes un proyecto para construir un dispositivo que muestre el funciona-miento de un artefacto de uso industrial basado en la Ley de Ampere. Los alumnos fueron evaluados utilizando rúbricas y luego se realizó una encuesta a los alumnos y un cuestionario a los docentes de la cátedra para conocer su opinión sobre el trabajo con resultados alentadores que muestran el interés de los estudiantes por este tipo de metodología. Se detectaron aspectos a mejo-rar por los propios docentes que implementarán el método el próximo año. Este estudio presenta innovaciones y nuevas alterna-tivas para los diseños didácticos que fueron positivas y requieren que se continúe con su profundización.
