So as to understand how a hydroelectric power station works, in this proposal we begin by building a power generator, an experience that promotes the posing of questions about its operation and allows the study of electromagnetic induction effects. This proposal was created as the final project in the Teaching Practice Workshop III of the third year of the Physics Teacher degree of the National University of Rosario. In this paper, a modified implementation of the proposal is included. El estudio de la energía, su conversión y las fuentes de electricidad en los primeros años del nivel secundario pocas veces son tratados en profundidad. Con el objetivo de entender el funcionamiento de una central hidro-eléctrica, en esta propuesta se parte de la construcción de un generador que funciona de disparador de preguntas y experiencias para entender su funcionamiento y abordar el estudio del efecto de inducción electromagnética. La propuesta se originó como el proyecto final del Taller de Práctica de la Enseñanza III de tercer año del Profesorado en Física de la Universidad Nacional de Rosario. En este artículo, se incluye una implementación adaptada de la propuesta.
