After consideration of the various possible forms these exams might take we propase the open book final examination as it seems to us greatly superior to the system of the traditional oral examination. When setting the exam papers certain norms are applied according to the type of learning to be evaluated. This is a slow and complex task, but allows the questions to be flexibly and dinamically expanded or re-structured whenever the contents or objectives of the subjet are modified. En la Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Tecnología de la Universidad Nacional de Tucumán, la promoción del alumno en todas las asignaturas de sus planes de estudio, se decide mediante un examen final. Haciendo un análisis de las diferentes técnicas posibles, proponemos para llevarlo a cabo, la técnica del examen final escrito con libro abierto que presenta, a nuestro criterio, grandes ventajas sobre la tradicional técnica del examen oral. Se dan las pautas para la elaboración de los temas teniendo en cuenta el tipo de aprendizaje que se desea evaluar. Esta es una tarea lenta y compleja pero permite que la colección de los mismos pueda ser ampliada y reestructurada con flexibilidad y dinamismo, cada vez que se modifiquen los contenidos o los objetivos de la materia.
