This study includes three central axes of discussion: a) the regulatory frameworks for the protection of children and their relationship with b) state actions and c) professional approach models. The methodology used was bibliographic review and the knowledge acquired by the author in research and intervention in Spain (2014-2019) and Argentina (2020-2022). In conclusion, we suggest that child protection in both countries poses challenges to achieve improvements in their performance against the structural problems that families face in contexts of inequality. El presente artículo tiene como principal objetivo el análisis comparado de los sistemas actuales de atención a las infancias en situación de desprotección en Argentina y España. Al ser un tema de especial interés para el trabajo social, los servicios de protección infantil se conforman como espacios donde se articulan luchas por derechos e intereses sociales, políticos y culturales. El estudio retoma tres ejes centrales de discusión: a) los marcos normativos de protección a las infancias y su relación con b) las actuaciones estatales y c) los modelos de abordaje profesional. La metodología utilizada fue la revisión bibliográfica y la puesta en valor de los conocimientos adquiridos por la autora en investigación e intervención en España (2014-2019) y Argentina (2020-2022). A modo de conclusión, sugerimos que la protección a las infancias en ambos países supone desafíos para lograr mejoras en su actuación frente a las problemáticas estructurales que atraviesan las familias en contextos de desigualdad.
