This process of crisis and new forms of assistance has been the causal factor of the expansion and complexity of poverty in Argentine society. The configuration of a social scenario of these characteristics recognizes immediate historical antecedents that have deepened in the current context of pandemic and compulsory social isolation. The article makes a brief historical review of these topics in recent Argentina; analyzes information that is part of the diagnosis of the current social situation and puts forward some programmatic axes as a proposal for intervention within the framework of social policies. The growth of various forms of monetarization of assistance by the State, the consolidation of community spaces for assistance and care in the territory and the presence of public institutions that provide support are the main supports of this proposal. El presente artículo se propone analizar las políticas de asistencia y cuidado en Argentina en tiempos de crisis del trabajo asalariado y debilitamiento de los dispositivos de protección social. Este proceso, de crisis y nuevas formas de asistencia, ha sido el factor causal de la expansión y complejidad de la pobreza en la sociedad argentina. La configuración de un escenario social de estas características reconoce antecedentes históricos inmediatos que se han profundizado en el contexto actual de pandemia y aislamiento social obligatorio. El artículo realiza un breve recorrido histórico sobre estos tópicos en la Argentina reciente; analiza información que forma parte del diagnóstico de la situación social actual y plantea algunos ejes programáticos a modo de propuesta de intervención en el marco de las políticas sociales. El crecimiento de diversas formas de monetarización de la asistencia por parte del Estado, la consolidación de los espacios comunitarios de asistencia y cuidado en el territorio y la presencia de instituciones públicas que brindan acompañamiento constituyen los soportes principales de esta propuesta.
