What is exposed throughout the work invites to deepen the knowledge about the problematic consumption of psychoactive substances from a gender perspective and to reflect on the implications and positions that social work can adopt when intervening in this field. A partir de las experiencias de intervención del trabajo social en un Hospital General de Agudos de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, en el presente artículo se analizan los modos en que las mujeres puérperas con consumo problemático de sustancias psicoactivas perciben sus maternidades, sus historias, experiencias, prácticas de consumo y las posibles congruencias y/o tensiones que pudiesen derivarse de la combinación de prácticas de consumo con prácticas de maternaje. Lo expuesto a lo largo del trabajo invita a profundizar los conocimientos acerca de los consumos problemáticos de sustancias psicoactivas desde una perspectiva de género y a reflexionar sobre las implicancias y posicionamientos que puede adoptar el trabajo social al intervenir en este campo.
