The following text aims to recover the work experience in the Mother House of the city of San Cristóbal de las Casas, within the framework of the rotation of the Social Work and Health Residency, under the Ministry of Health Córdoba Province, during the months of October and November of the year 2018. The actions developed focused on the problems related to the users and traditional midwives who provide their services there. Analyzing the normative framework in maternal health and its contrast with policies and their conception of underlying subjects, the commodification of health that they reinforce, the hegemony of the allopathic medical model over traditional indigenous medicine, and socio-sanitary barriers that hinder access to health services. For this we recover contributions of the Social Work discipline in relation to maternal health and health, proposing, before the local authorities, a series of actions aimed at strengthening the services that the aforementioned health center provides for the reduction of maternal death, objective for which that space was created.
