The text also reflects upon how current the debate about university reform is today, beyond the fact that the date necessarily prompts us to think about the university from that vantage point. In this study I registered that localized differences in the concept of reform are strongly linked to the degree of conformation of the university population as a particular social group; it is proposed that the experiences of university reform are expressions of the social divide - which is structured cyclically - between established and young generations in the institution, in each reproductive cycle. The inflection point in each cycle is a large-scale student mobilization (1933/1968/1986/1999) or a labor mobilization (1972/1977). A cien años de la reforma de 1918 en Córdoba y a cincuenta del movimiento estudiantil de 1968 en México, en este texto se reseñan los diferentes contenidos de significación que la noción de reforma adquirió a lo largo de la historia de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México(UNAM); y se reflexiona acerca de qué tan actual es hoy el debate sobre la reforma universitaria, más allá de que la fecha convoque necesariamente a pensar la universidad desde dicho registro. En este recorrido, encontré que las diferencias localizadas en el concepto de reforma están fuertemente vinculadas al grado de conformación de las/los universitarios, como un grupo social particular; se propone que las experiencias de reformas universitarias son expresiones de la brecha social -que se estructura cíclicamente- entre las generaciones establecidas y las generaciones jóvenes de la institución, en cada ciclo de su reproducción; el punto de inflexión en cada ciclo es un movimiento estudiantil de envergadura (1933/1968/1986/1999) o una movilización sindical (1972/1977).
