The article, which is based on previous studies, aims to analyze the participation of Social Work in the intervention processes that are carried out in the field of public health. The distinction between intervention in health and social intervention present in the discourses of the agents and their effects on professional and institutional practices is discussed. El origen y trayectoria de Trabajo Social en el campo de la salud pública resulta de la combinación del proceso de profesionalización con las luchas de poder, que incluyen significados en torno a la salud, los sujetos, los derechos y la distribución de responsabilidades reproductivas entre Estado, mercado y familias. El artículo, que se fundamenta en estudios previos[1], se propone analizar la participación de Trabajo Social en los procesos de intervención que se llevan a cabo en el campo de la salud pública. Se discute la distinción entre intervención en salud e intervención en lo social presente en los discursos de las/os agentes y sus efectos en las prácticas profesionales e institucionales. [1] Los proyectos de investigación, desarrollados en el marco de SECyT. UNC, tuvieron por objetivos: 2012-2015: Analizar los procesos de construcción de estrategias de  intervención profesional de trabajo social con familias en relación a problemas sociales en diferentes espacios institucionales del área de salud pública en la provincia de Córdoba, Argentina; 2016-2017: Caracterizar a los sujetos/familias y a los problemas por los que demandan intervención en las unidades de Trabajo Social de las instituciones de salud pública existentes en la Provincia de Córdoba (de nivel nacional, provincial y municipal).
