Sumario:Texts generated by university students studying the area of Plant Diversity in the Biodiversity Degree (Faculty of Humanities and Sciences, Universidad Nacional del Litoral) are qualitatively identified and analyzed in order to diagnose academic writing difficulties. Indicators of general lack of linguistic and textual mastery were observed, such as: unnecessary use of repetitions and pleonasms, numerous abbreviations, spelling problems, frequent use of oral expressions and specific symbology that act as verbal obstacles, unbalanced or hidden paragraphs that affect cohesion and coherence, highlighting positively the use of explanatory resources such as enumerations, definitions, analogies and exemplifications.
