Cell Biology is important for the understanding of a number of topics in Biological Sciences. Therefore, it is essential to know what recent research on the study of Cell Biology mediated by textbooks points out. This bibliographic-documentary article analyzed the conceptions of the Cellular Biology curriculum and the role attributed to textbooks in eight Brazilian master’s dissertations and two doctoral theses. Regarding the conceptions of the curriculum, a predominance of the Critical curriculum is observed. Regarding the role attributed to textbooks, it has been possible to identify that most of the works present textbooks as mediators. The research also pointed out the lack of discussions in postgraduate programs about Cellular Biology and textbooks in the last years of primary education.
