Through action research. it was sought to offer support to the educational practice of EA in the continuing education of teachers. Establishing the integration of undergraduate and graduate teaching, the discipline of "Science" was used to develop actions that could promote the partnership between the school and its environment, rescuing participation as the great challenge of environmentalism. El presente trabajo se encuentra basado en la Teoría Crítica, que revisa la acción y participación como prioridad de la Educación Ambiental (EA) emancipadora. Con un breve desarrollo de la evolución de la EA, se describe un proyecto de investigación realizado en el Estado de Mato Grosso (Brasil), tomando I O escuelas rurales. A través de la investigación acción. se buscó ofrecer apoyo a la práctica educativa de la EA en la formación continua de profesores. Estableciendo la integración de la enseñanza de grado y posgrado, se utilizó la disciplina de "Ciencias" para desarrollar acciones que pudieran promover la alianza entre la es cuela y su entorno, rescatando la participación como el gran desafío del ambientalismo.
