In this work wc dctcctcd  sorne alternativo ideas of thc siudcnts on pbctosynthcsis and ccllular rcspiration  and his cvolution  is also analy- sed along thc sccondary  cducation  in a sehool of Portugal.   Las ideas alternativas de los alumnos  y su evolución  a lo largo del periodo escolar  constituyen  un aspecto importante que condiciona  todo el aprendizaje.  Su detección  y análisis pueden contribuir decisivamente a una reestructuración cognitiva que conduzca  a un aprendizaje  significativo. En este artículo  se detectan algunas ideas alternativas  de los alumnos sobre fotosíntesis y respiración  celular y se analiza su evolución a lo largo de la enseñanza  secundaria  en una escuela de Portugal.
